Clothing

Most days you will want to wear your bathing suit, however, even on the warmest days, you may notice drops in temperature due to clouds, rain or a sea breeze. You need to make sure can add or take off layers if you need to.  Here are our recommendations of what to bring on your Apollo Beach Adventure:

  • Windbreaker - This will protect you from spray and keep you warm on early morning starts.

  • Coverups - May be required for some establishments.

  • Lightweight Shirt - Wearing a shirt will protect your arms and shoulders from sunburn. Linen is perfect for keeping the heat away from your skin.

  • Light Colored Clothing - This reflects the sun to keep you cool in hot weather.

  • Sandals/Flip Flops - Most establishments that serve food and drinks will not permit bare feet. Additionally, the sand at some destinations might burn your skin if in direct contact.

  • Water Shoes - Recommended for most sandbars or islands as debris in the water or sand might case cuts on the soles of your feet.

Weather Protection

We always recommend that you pack this even on overcast days. A lack of shade on parts of the boat plus the ocean’s reflective glare can provide a very uncomfortable and unsafe experience if you’re not protected. At the same time, conditions can change very quickly in the bay or at some of the destinations we will be visiting. Unexpected downpours can also be expected each afternoon during the summer months. Here is what we suggest you pack for your trip:

  • Sunscreen - Make sure to get one that protects from UVA rays.

  • Lip Balm - Lip balm with sun protection will stop your lips getting chapped.

  • Hat - Hats with brims provide shade and decrease the risk of sunstroke.

  • Polarized Sunglasses - These will cut through the glare on the water to give you a better view.

  • Rain Jacket - This is essential if you come across bad weather and will help to keep you warm.

Pharmaceuticals

Since you may be far from your pickup destination, it’s a good idea to bring any medication you think you might need on the boat with you so you have a safe and enjoyable experience.  You may want to bring these items with you:

  • Seasickness Medication - If you’re prone to seasickness stock up on over the counter remedies like Bonine® and Dramamine®. These are effective but should be taken a couple of hours before you board the boat.

  • Bug Spray - This is an essential item to bring since no one likes bug bites.

  • Small First Aid Kit - Come equipped with band aids and antiseptic cream. We will be equipped with a first aid supplies on every charter, but it’s always good to be prepared with your own means of dealing with minor cuts and grazes.

  • Hand Sanitizer - No one wants to share your hand after you just sneezed into it.

Storage

Apollo Beach Adventures will allow one personal item (purse, camera bag, etc.) plus one carry on item (beach bag, back pack, soft cooler, etc.) for your charter. Please be mindful your items may be damaged by salt spray or rain during the charter and Apollo Beach Adventures cannot be held responsible for damage for these items.  We will be providing a 145-quart cooler, water bottles and ice to keep your favorite beverages cold. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted on board and can also be purchased at many of the destinations we may visit. Make sure to pack these items or share with a friend:

  • Backpack - Any sturdy bag will also do the job.

  • Soft Cooler - This can be brought as a carry-on item for any food or drink you want to take on board. Don’t forget to fill your bag with ice or use frozen gel ice packs.

  • Drinking Bottle - Keeping water or your favorite drink in container with a lid and straw will prevent spills as we are boating throughout the bay.

  • Waterproof Bag - It’s a good idea to bring small waterproof zip lock bag for your camera, cell phone, driver’s license and wallet.

  • Beach Towel - Aside from the obvious reasons to bring a towel, they are also great for keeping you warm after a rain shower.

Prohibited Items

Due to US Coast Guard regulations and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) there are items that are not permitted on chartered vessels.  Some other items are not permitted by request of Apollo Beach Adventures, so we respectfully ask you leave these items at home:

  • Illegal Drugs - Any type of narcotics, controlled substances, contraband, or illegal drugs are not permitted. We have a zero policy for non-prescription drugs. do not attempt to board our vessel with any of these items.

  • Cigarettes/Portable Propane Grills - We do not allow cigarette smoking or small propane canisters on board to prevent the possibility of fires or explosions.
